Sultanas: prices go mad

MANISA. While harvesting has been completed, the raw material market for sultana raisins has turned completely crazy. Most farmers are storing their products in their warehouses.

Out of hand

Things got out of hand after Tariş announced its bids. Farmers are refusing to deliver volumes to the producers’ cooperative, despite Tariş offering advance payments as of next week for farmers who already delivered products between 1 and 15 September. Trouble is that the cooperative’s prices are completely out of touch with the market. While Tariş only pays TRY 45/kg for type 7 seedless raisins, the market prices for this variety have risen to TRY 50/kg.
