Sultanas: market reaches stalemate

MANISA. The Turkish sultana market is stagnating. Growers' hopes of higher commodity prices are not very likely to come true at the moment. Exports are well down on last year.

Unsatisfactory for all involved

The Turkish sultana market remains in limbo. Export demand is still low due to the high prices. Many customers are only buying what they need and long-term contracts are out of the question due to the current situation. Yields are lower than initially expected and some of the produce is showing qualitative defects due to the rainfall during the drying period.
