MANISA. The high temperatures of the past few days have accelerated the ripening process of the fruit in the Manisa growing regions. As a result, the harvest could start earlier than previously assumed.

Early start to the harvest

Temperatures in Manisa have been 44-45°C over the past few days, rising to as high as 49°C in some places. While the Turkish population is groaning under the scorching heat, the fruit has not been damaged so far – only the ripening process of the grapes is progressing faster. As a result, market players are expecting the harvest to start much earlier than previously assumed. The coming days are expected to be hot again, but meteorologists are forecasting a drop in temperature to 34-42°C by the end of the week.
