Sultanas: Great differences in prices

MANISA. Sultanas from Turkey are highly successful in the international market. Harvest delays are meanwhile reported in Australia and currants are trading on a high level in Greek.

Turkey is the market leader

The prices in Turkey are stable with nominal upticks for the time being. Depending on supplier, the prices for sultanas, Grade A, Type 9, STD range at 2,000-2,100 EUR/mt CFR Hamburg. The supplies for the brighter Type 10 sultanas are becoming more and more limited, which is why surcharges of up to 100 EUR/mt are being asked.

Dried fruit suppliers so far shipped 132,307 mt of sultanas and Thompson raisins overseas this season. This season’s decline in production has no impact on exports so far considering that last year&rsquo
