Sultanas: Global production estimates challenge market

MANISA. Market players reckon that the TMO will become more active in 2018/19. Traders are in the meantime focusing on their regular customer base.

 

Global surplus expected

The Aegean Exporters’ Association and the TMO have met and discussed the role the TMO intends to play in Turkey in the new season. Concerns are voiced over the expected drop in production and the decline in supplies this entails. If the TMO should conduct purchases supplies will be even further reduced and farmgate prices will most certainly rise. The two parties have therefore agreed on a price level of 6.00-6.50 TRY/kg.
