MANISA. Relatively cool night temperatures and occasional precipitation are favouring the formation of mildew on the vines. Traders are worried and are already expecting crop losses.

Figures are, however, still to be announced. The 2017 production was last estimated at 270,000 mt, possible carry-over stocks are now gaining importance.

Since the beginning of the season, more than 221,000 mt of sultanas have been exported. If exports maintain the current pace, another 50,000-60,000 mt could be sold by the end of August. If the domestic consumption is considered, there may hardly be anything left at the end of the season.

Prices remain unchanged

The prices are maintaining the same level as last week. There are hardly any requests for prompt deliveries; many suppliers are working through ongoing contracts. The overall trade activity is slightly weaker because of Ramadan.
