Sultanas: Farmgate prices rise by 100%

MANISA. The farmgate prices for sultanas have drastically risen since last year. Buyers in Europe and the US are, however, profiting from the depreciation of the Turkish Lira.

 

Export season comes to an end

The new season has officially started in Turkey this week. Exporters in Turkey have shipped about 280,000 mt abroad over the last twelve months – ca. 10,000 mt more than in 2016/17.

At present it is, however, estimated that supplies are as low as 260,000-280,000 mt. Market players are therefore expecting prices to rise next year at the very latest. The drying phase is to be concluded by mid-September.
