MANISA. Low prices have prompted many growers to dry their grapes rather than selling them fresh. While growers reckon the prices will rise, buyers expect the opposite.

Warm weather benefits growers in Sarıgöl

In the Sarıgöl district of Manisa the world famous sultani seedless table grape producers are keeping an eye the weather forecasts. Producers who have not been able to sell their fresh produce this year have turned to drying to prevent rain from damaging the grapes. Temperatures have partly risen to 32C (90F). This year's extreme heat has had a negative impact on the grapes and most producers prefer to dry their volumes. The price for wine grapes has fallen to TRY 12-13/kg in recent days rendering drying
