Sultanas: dent on exports in Turkey

MANISA. Market players in Turkey report a dent on exports this season. The current exchange rate fluctuations are also not exactly helpful. In addition, the market is gearing up for the Anuga, which will be held in Germany next week.

Uptick in demand in Germany

In Turkey, the farmgate prices have stabilised at TRY 10 per kg. The lira has, however, risen in value over the last few days. This has driven up the export prices for type 9 and type 10 sultanas. Market activities are currently rather subdued as many traders are preparing for the Anuga, which will be held in Cologne next week. Their hope is that additional orders will be generated and that they will catch a better overview of how the competitors in the US and in Iran are positioning themselves this season.
