Sultanas: Complaints over seeds

MANISA. The expected rise in demand for Thompson Raisins has so far failed to materialise. Market players nevertheless remain optimistic in expecting demand to revive later in the season.

 

Seeds cause aggravation

In addition to the decline in yields, sultana production has also dropped below the levels seen over the last few years. This is partly due to the rise in production of Thompson raisins. Instead of the usual 25,000 mt, producers in Turkey dried around 45,000 mt of undipped grapes. They intend to profit from the higher prices for California raisins.
