Sultanas: China undercuts competitors

FRANKFURT. Sultanas from China are generally considered a cheap alternative to Turkey. Buyers intending to purchase the 2018 crop are, however, urged to hurry.

Prices are on the rise in China

While RTU, standard, type 9 sultanas from China were trading in a range of 1.74 EUR/kg CFR Hamburg over the last few weeks, traders now report noticeably higher prices. The prices for RTU A,A, standard sultanas from China currently range at 1.83 EUR/kg DDP Germany for deliveries in July. The prices on offer for the new crop are lower at 1.79 EUR/kg DDP Germany for delivery in November. In Turkey, grade A, type 9, standard sultanas were recently trading in a range of 2.03 EUR/kg FOB Izmir. Trading activities are, however very limited a
