Sultanas: British buyers launch release orders

MANISA. The Izmir commodity exchange is now only open two days a week. With the end of the Brexit transition period drawing near sultana exporters report that buyers in the UK are issuing release orders.

Commodity exchange only open two days a week

Trading at the Izmir commodity exchange has now been restricted to two days a week due the coronavirus. Gates are only open on Tuesday and Wednesday. Farmgate prices remain firm at TRY 11.50-11.80/kg, although demand, also for long-term contracts, is up. At 67,853 mt this season's exports fall well short of the volumes shipped overseas in the last two years.
