Sultanas: Approval of Iprodione due to expire

MANISA. The EU has terminated approval of the fungicide Iprodione, due to its carcinogenic properties, effective October 31, 2018. Pesticides with this agent must be pulled from the market by June 5, 2018.

 

Iprodione against Botrytis

Authorities are currently recommending that farmers avoid use of pesticides that contain Iprodione as much as possible to prevent residues in agricultural products in the Autumn 2018 crop.

Iprodione is used to combat Botrytis (grey mould rot), which can impact the vines. Sour rot that prevents unripe grapes from continuing to mature, making them unusable, is particularly insidious.
