NEW DELHI. The sesame seed exporters have adopted a wait-and-see attitude. Problem is that the buyers are also holding back.

Prices drop by up to 500 USD/mt

The sesame seed prices in India reached a 4.5-year high in mid-November. Afterwards the situation changed. Due to the arrival of the corps from Africa and the tenders from South Korea the pressure on the traders increased. Over the last 2.5 months, the sesame seed prices have dropped. Hulled sesame seeds are now trading a whopping 500 USD/mt lower at 2,040 USD/mt CIF Hamburg. Natural sesame seeds are about 350 USD/mt cheaper and are currently trading for 1,880 USD/mt CIF Hamburg.
