NEW DELHI. Although the prices in India can easily compete in the world market, the situation in China requires caution. Africa is also an essential key market for the price development in the months to come.

 

Enormous pressure in China

China has officially exported 236,523 mt of sesame seeds in January-February. Although no official data is available for March, market players reckon that ca. 120,000 mt have been imported. Imports for April at reckoned at ca. 80,000 mt. China has in other words imported as much as ca. 430,000 mt in the first four months of the year. Nearly as high import rates were only reached in 2016, when China imported 324,121 mt in January-April. Since China has an average consumption of 60,000 mt the market is basically covered until
