NEW DELHI. Arrivals are low since most summer crop seeds are already available in the spot markets.

Waiting for rain

Although the crop is relatively small, the tender from Korea had surprisingly little impact on prices. Prices have been varying by as little as 5-10 USD/mt depending on the different offers available over the last few weeks. Good upcountry demand and low supplies should, however, stabilise the market again soon.

In some regions the monsoon has already kicked in, whereas in others the farmers are still waiting for rain to start sowing the main crop. Sowing is due to start in Gujarat over the next few days.
