NEW DELHI. Today, the result of the current South Korean sesame seed tender was supposed to be announced. Instead, it was reported that all but one of the bids were rejected. The tender is to be repeated on Friday.

New attempt before the weekend

South Korea had wanted to buy a total of 15,000 mt of sesame seeds via the tender published last week, divided into three positions. Apparently the buyers were not satisfied with the bids. All prices submitted for P1 (3,000 mt) and P2 (6,000 mt) were rejected and P3 was also significantly smaller. Only one exporter from Myanmar was awarded 600 mt of sesame seeds for its bid of USD 1,798/mt. The remaining 5,400 mt from P3 are not to be re-tendered and would thus have expired. For P1 and P2, exporters are allowed to bid again for tomorro
