Sesame seeds: Slow but sure price erosion in India

NEW DELHI. The long-awaited rain in some producing regions in India have taken some tension out of the market. Prices vary depending on the provider.

Black sesame seeds are the noted exception

The prices for white sesame seeds are slowly but surely approaching last year's level. In addition, the export prices on offer for hulled sesame seeds vary by up to USD 0.10 per kg depending on supplier and prices can in general be said to be stable to falling. Black sesame seeds are, however, trading 6% to 7.5% higher than last month. Since the arrival of new crop in mid-May, prices have even risen by 7.5% to 11%.
