Sesame seeds: reality kicks in

NEW DELHI. After the suppliers in India won 60% of the bids for the tender from Korea and demand for winter gave the market a lift the mood was euphoric last week. Now reality has, however, kicked in. One of the exporters, who received an order in the last tender from Korea, may also be in trouble.

Market situation should change

Last week’s upsurge in domestic demand was only short lived as the high prices have put off buyers now. Natural sesame seeds are, therefore, trading lower. The exporters, who won the bids in the tender from Korea, have so far also failed to buy. This may, however, change as it is rumoured that one of the exporters, who won a bid for the first time, may have to purchase 18,000-20,000 bags of sesame seeds.
