Sesame seeds: rain to reduce output

NEW DELHI/KHARTOUM. Anticipations already range lower for sesame seeds than initital projections for last year's crop in India. Rain may also have and additional impact. Prospects are quite encouraging in Sudan and Pakistan.

Crop of 150,000 mt anticipated

Overall domestic production is expected to cross 150,000 mt in India, yet delayed rainfall may impact output and quality. One year ago production was expected to exceed 160,000 mt but heavy rainfall on the standing crop during harvest time reduced final production to 115,000 mt.
