Sesame seeds: first quantities from Nigeria

ABUJA/NEW DELHI. Small volumes of Nigeria's new crop and traders' efforts to sell off their stocks are putting pressure on sesame seeds prices. At the same time, the sesame seed trade in Africa is overshadowed by ongoing political tensions.

Traders sell off old stocks

In the African sesame seed market, the first quantities of the new crop from Nigeria started arriving at the beginning of September, and at the same time traders are anxious to sell their last stocks from last year's crop before the new goods arrive. For this reason, prices have declined recently.
