NEW DELHI. The fact that the last tender from South Korea was almost completely withdrawn has put a heavy damper on the Indian sesame seed market. In combination with the good crop forecasts, prices are under increased pressure.

The pressure is growing

On the Indian sesame seed market, prices have fallen for the second week in a row. Although only 150-300 bags of sesame seeds arrive daily in the large trading markets, demand is moderate, so there is no shortage of goods. The main reason for this development is the Korean tender, which has been withdrawn except for a small quantity due to high prices. Indian exporters had stocked up on additional supplies in preparation for the tender, and now they are sitting on their goods and have no buyers for the time being.
