NEW DELHI. Many buyers currently prefer short term contracts, the price level is simply too high. Rumour also has it that a new tender is to be announced soon.

Further price rises

The prices for sesame seeds are 250-300 USD/mt higher than in September 2016 and 2017. This is deterring many buyers from concluding long-term contracts. Demand from China has, however, surged thereby fueling further price increases this week.

Rumours concerning a new tender from South Korea are also circulating the market in India. Traders expect the country to announce a tender over 13,000 mt soon.
