Sesame seeds: massive price increase

NEW DELHI/FRANKFURT. Since there are currently no offers for sesame seeds from the growing countries such as India, Sudan and Nigeria, demand on the European spot market is high.

Prices exceed EUR 2.00

Traders are reporting a strong increase in demand due to the current situation in the sesame seed market. In the European spot market, prices for hulled sesame seeds currently range at a level of around EUR 2.02 per kg DDP Germany. Before the Indian curfew applied, export prices in the Indian sesame seed market were at USD 1.74 per kg (approximately EUR 1.57 per kg) CFR Hamburg.
