NEW DELHI. The bids for the current sesame seed tender from South Korea have been accepted. Countries that rarely appear as bidders have also participated this time.

Sesame seed prices at 4-year high

Indian sesame prices have taken a huge leap this week and are currently at a 4-year high. A similar level was last reached in October 2014.

The high prices make it difficult for exporters in India to win the current bids. Competitors can easily keep up in terms of price. Even China, which is a large importer itself, is participating in the tender with 1,500 mt. Exporters in India have registered for 9,900 mt. Pakistan and companies from Africa want to supply 1,200 mt each. Bids amount to a total of 13,800 mt.
