Sesame seeds: arrivals pick up at alarming rate

NEW DELHI. Arrivals have certainly picked up in India and may boost suppliers’ chances of winning bids in the current Korean tender over 15,000 mt of sesame seeds. Bidders can register now, and the outcome will be announced on 22 May.

Farmers to dump supplies on market

The tide may be about to turn for suppliers in India, who barely stand a chance in the tender. Issue is that arrivals have now picked up, albeit at alarming speed. Major trading hubs in Gujarat are, for instance, reporting that farmers are supplying 2,500-3,000 bags per day, whereas the average influx recently only ranged at 300-500 bags. Arrivals will increase exponentially in the next two weeks as harvesting is underway.
