Sesame seeds: up to 10,000 bags per day

NEW DELHI/OUAGADOUGOU. Even before the start of the Diwali festival, prices on the Indian sesame seed market have declined again. Rainfall in Nigeria is causing possible production problems.

New crop arrives on the markets

The crops from the growing regions are gradually arriving on the Indian trading markets. In Uttar Pradesh, 8,000-10,000 bags of sesame seeds are being delivered daily from regions such as Mahoba, Orai, Rath and Chattarpur, which corresponds to a weight of 480-600 mt. The commodity prices in the trading markets vary from INR 95-106/kg. Over the past few months, prices have been on a downward slide, interrupted only occasionally by peaks.
