Raisins: orders have been cancelled

TEHRAN. While orders are being cancelled due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, market players in are looking into the impact of new methods of cultivation. Traditionally, the vines are cultivated lying on the ground in Iran. This is a far too ineffective way of producing grapes and raisins.

Producers called to abandon traditional cultivation

More effective methods, such as the top wire cordon, are called for. Some producers have already switched to new methods of cultivation in a bid to increase yields and quality. These producers can harvest more than 110 metric tonnes of grapes per hectare. Market players hope that more and more producers will adopt the new methods as this will increase raisin prodcution and render marketing much easier.
