DALIAN. Although acreage has decreased, there is some good news for buyers. The weather in China could hardly be better for cultivation.

High risk of mould

Most processing facilities are now closed for summer over the next few weeks. The facilities are undergoing maintenance work and cleaning. Demand is rather subdued and some suppliers have completely withdrawn from the market. The overall trend is still going up.

Shipments are highly risky in summer. Only few traders are prepared to use cold storage and the high humidity affects the seeds providing ideal conditions for mould to grow while being shipped.

Not long to go until the harvest

The crop is prospering due to the sunny and warm weather. Although parts of North East China are affected by drought, this has produced no impact so far. Snow Whites and Shine Skins will be harvested in September and GWS will be harvested later.
