BEIJING. Chinese pumpkin kernels continue to trade high. Many exporters have been deterred, while preparations are underway in the domestic market as the holidays are expected to drive up demand. Speculators are, meanwhile, waiting for cheaper prices.

Holidays to drive up domestic demand

China is preparing for quite a few public holidays in the next few weeks. Not only is the Mid Autumn Festival celebrated around 21 September but trading will also be largely subdued during the Golden Week and the National Day of the People's Repubic of China on 01-07 October. As traders and roasters are buying supplies in the run up to the holidays prices remain high.
