BEIJING. Traders in China are currently struggling with low demand. Market players report conspicuous pesticide analyses that do however not exceed the EU limits.

Declining prices

Demand is currently rather restrained, which is putting producers under increasing pressure. Prices for pumpkin kernels GWS, Grade AA have declined by USD 15.00 per metric tonne since last week and are currently quoted at USD 2,835 per metric tonne CFR Hamburg. Market players also report anomalies in pesticide analysis. In particular, this concerns the active substance trifluralin, which was detected in all available analyses, but at 0.005 to 0.006 mg per kg is still within the limit permitted in the EU.
