DALIAN. Market players report a significant decline in production in China. The production of GWS kernels is expected to decline by 50%.

Maximum of 6,000 metric tonnes expected

Weeks ago, traders in China had announced that this year's acreage is similar in size to last year. However, it should be noted that the proportion of shine skins has risen, meaning that GWS production is set to decline. As Chelmers Foods has recently reported, GWS production is expected to drop to 4,000-6,000 metric tonnes this year. Last year's produciton still ranged as high as 10,000-12,000 metric tonnes. Since this season's carry-over stocks are estimated at 5,000-6,000 mt, total GWS supplies should amount to 9,000-12,000
