Pumpkin seeds: Global market slump

DALIAN/VIENNA. Both the Asian and European pumpkin seed markets are suffering from declining sales figures. Larger acreages are inconceivable in 2018 as the market is switching to alternative commodities.

 

China takes its losses
Commodity prices have risen slightly, and the prices over the coming months are expected to be somewhat more fixed as well. Exporters are reporting of inquiries from, among others, Germany, the Netherlands, and the US for shipments between May and August 2018.

Reductions in acreage for Shine Skins amount to as much as 40%. The kernels, roasted and salted, are a popular snack in the eastern Asian country, which gives rise to the suspicion that purchase interest is not only down on the European market.
