Pumpkin seeds: crazy run on supplies

DALIAN. A sudden run on pumpkin seeds has taken traders in China by surprise. No one expected such a move. If sales continue at this rate, supplies will be gone well before the end of the season.

High prices fail to deter buyers

Traders are stunned at how fast the prices for shine skin kernels are moving up. Nobody expected the sudden hike. Although prices are highly unattractive, newly released supplies were sold out withing minutes on Friday as it seems that buyers can simply not get enough. The raw material prices for shine skins in fact rose from RMB 16.30/kg to 19.0/kg within only three weeks.
