Pumpkin seeds: Chinese New Year boosts domestic demand

BEIJING. Buyers of pumpkin seeds from China are currently resorting to Snow Whites, as prices are lower than for GWS and Shine Skins. A decline in prices can only be expected after the Chinese New Year.

Supplies are being withheld

Domestic demand for pumpkin kernels in China continues to rise steadily. There are rumours on the market that a major supplier is storing 70% of the 2019 Shine Skin crop, waiting to sell them when prices have reached their maximum limit. Prices will remain at a high level until the Chinese New Year, after which a price decline is to be expected.
