Pumpkin seeds: adverse market developments

DALIAN. Many suppliers from China have extended their stay in Europe after the Anuga, which was held in Cologne at the beginning of the month. This, however, poses a problem for the market. There is a mismatch in the way in which prices have developed.

Limited supplies push up prices

The prices declined in China at the beginning of the week, with offers for GWS, Grade AA kernels ranging at USD 2.46-2.52 per kg and the prices for Shine Skin Skines, Grade AA being quoted at USD 3.12-2.30 per kg CFR Hamburg. Contrary to this the prices for pumpkin kernels from China have, however, risen in Germany and in Eastern Europe.

Traders report that supplies are limited. The situation is not helped by the fact that many suppliers from China are still touring Europe after visiting Germany for the Anuga. In Germany Shine
