DALIAN. Market participants are wondering what may be wrong with Europe and the USA. Demand is lacking. Times will be hard if it does not pick up soon.

Surprising interest

Although demand was relatively stable over the last few weeks, suppliers in China now have reason to complain. There is, however, one speck of hope. Buyers in southern Asia and Korea are showing a surprisingly strong interest. But traders in India are, nevertheless, hoping that demand in the USA and Europe will quickly revive.

Further price drops are possible

Although this week’s prices have remained stable, they still are incredibly cheap. Suppliers reckon that prices may drop even further if demand fails to revive in the near term. Since this year’s production is, however, expected to decrease the prices should again rise in summer at the very latest. It is to be hoped that the traders and farmers will have learnt the lessons of the last two years in pushing prices to records highs.
