DALIAN. Although the offers of various pumpkin seed kernel traders differ considerably, all concerned are of one mind, as to where the journey will go.

Demand is back
Pumpkin seed kernel prices had reached rock-bottom after the SIAL. Traders offered pumpkin seed kernels at price levels, which largely corresponded with the farmer’s production costs. Market participants were already fearing that farmers would think twice about cultivating pumpkin seeds in the new year, should prices not rise.
Equipped with fresh loans, Chinese processors worked at rebuilding stocks. Indeed, the spell seems to be broken because exporters are momentarily very pleased about good demand, mainly from the European area. This is a chance for some traders to test the market and have prices climb. Others again are less courageous with offers and ask for a few days of respite.

Buyers are figuring long-term
Mainly long-term contracts are very popular now because a change in the price development will not be likely for a while. Prices are too low and interest too high, tendency is stable to rising. Whoever buys from China now will be getting his merchandise at some time between Christmas and New Year. After that, time will be really short for queries and purchases because of the Chinese New Year’s festivities at the end of January. Subsequently, there will be scarcely any loading as of middle of the month already.
