DALIAN/ROTTERDAM. The demand for pumpkin kernels remains underwhelming. To ramp up sales, importers are now trying all means they can possibly think of. Meanwhile, the harvest in China has already started.

Importers are reaching into their bag of tricks

The warehouses are full and the interest of buyers in Europe is limited. Importers in Europe are hoping for a small crop and a possible increase in demand in October and November. Some market players are highlighting the effects of the trade conflict between China and the USA. Some claim that the depreciation of the Yuan brought about by this conflict is currently creating unbelievably cheap offers. However, the Yuan is currently listed at EUR 7.95, which is approximately the same level as last year.
