Prunes: long awaited price indications from Chile

SANTIAGO. After market players had to wait in vain for several weeks for prices for Chilean prunes, traders now announced the first price indications - and they are not what everyone expected.

Significant production increases in the USA

As the latest data from the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council (INC) show, the USA and Chile will remain the most important producing countries for prunes in the 2021/22 season. After the crop in the USA was lower in the 2020/21 season due to adverse weather conditions, an increase of a good 28% is expected for the 2021/22 season.
