Pistachios: Possible record crop and strong exports

SACRAMENTO/THERAN. US suppliers recorded strong exports in October. Domestic demand did, however, not quite reach last year's level.

 

Export volume rises by 7%

Market players are reckoning with a record crop in the US, with estimates ranging from 360,000 to 430,000 mt. This creates ideal conditions for a strong export season.

US pistachio exports have risen by a total of 7% since the start of the season. Although a sharp decline in shipments to Africa and the Middle East of ca. 60% were recorded, exports to Europe, Asia and Central and South America increased significantly. By contrast, shipments within the US fell by 4% to 15,029 mt.
