NEW DELHI. The buying interest for Indian peanuts has increased significantly and the dwindling stocks are ensuring that prices continue to rise. Meanwhile, the African origins are facing various challenges.

Crop damage due to monsoon rains

The price increase in the Indian peanut market continues; compared to last week, prices have climbed by USD 60/mt. Indian traders report that demand is currently shooting through the roof, which is tightening supply and driving prices up. Foreign buying interest is strong, but the domestic market has priority and some suppliers are already struggling to meet demand.

For Bold peanuts in particular, market players expect further price increases into August. Recent monsoon rains in Uttar Pradesh have severely affected the summer
