KIEV. The new crop from the Ukraine has finally impacted the market. Suppliers in Eastern Europe have been forced to adjust their prices.

Sudden drop in prices

Suppliers in Poland were only recently offering yellow hulled millet for EUR 0.69 per kg EXW. Now they are, however, providing special offers for EUR 0.65 per kg EXW. Traders report that it was impossible for the suppliers to find bulk buyers with the high price level of EUR 0.82-0.83 per kg EXW they tried to maintain for weeks. Organic hulled millet from Russia is currently trading at EUR 1,375 per metric tonne EXW Poland.

They have finally succumbed to the much lower prices in the Ukraine. In the Ukraine, millet is trading at a much lower level of EUR 0.67-0.69 per kg DDP Germany. The arrival of the new crop has added considerable pressure as production is estimated to have doubled to 150,000-160,000 metric tonnes.
