Indian government plans to raise import duty on soft oil

The duty increase will help oilseed farmers to get good income for their produce.

Government increased 14% import duty on palm oil on last March month.

With mustard crop getting harvested the farmers will feel cheated if import duties on soya, sunflower and canola oils are not increased in same proportion as palm oils.

So, the government is likely to increase the import duty of soy oil, canola and sunflower oil in order to control the imports and to get the good prices for domestic oilseed producers.

Recently, the cabinet discuss about to increase import duty in soft oil and its announcement can happen in next week.
