ORDU. Hazelnut traders are pinning their hopes on the new year, when contracts are entered for the second part of the season.

Prices should increase again then. For the time being, though, buyers can enjoy this or that price reduction.

New year, higher prices?
Raw hazelnut kernel prices in Turkey have dropped below 10 TRY/kg again for the first time in quite a while. Kernels and hazelnut products are also offered at a lower level than last week. As of January, traders are again counting on a raw hazelnut seed price of 11.00-11.50 TRY/kg. The further price development depends most of all upon the weather. Frost is a happily employed argument to more or less justifyably increase prices.
