Hazelnuts: TMO’s decision comes as a shock

ORDU. On Friday, the TMO announced that it intends to conduct purchases. This came as a total shock to the market, which had previously expected the agency to remain inactive until January at least.

 

Market is in a state of shock

The TMO now intends to offer the farmers 14 TRY/kg plus a special bonus of 2 TRY/kg as of 1 November. Until Friday, the farmgate prices stood at 12.75 TRY/kg, they then, however, jumped by 20%. Exchange rate fluctuations have also pushed prices further up.
