ORDU. With the presidential elections drawing near this weekend the market is becoming increasingly tense. It is unclear in how far the outcome of the election will affect export prices. Meanwhile Erdoğan has promised to support farmers.

 

Growers are left in the dark

He has, however, left it unclear as to how exactly he intends to provide support. The TMO will, however, certainly also regulate the market in 2018/19 if necessary. Market players reckon with farmgate prices of 14-15 TRY/kg for the new crop. The TMO will, however, once again raise the base price to 12.25 TRY/kg on 12 July, thereby rendering a higher price level probable for the new season.
