EU imports more hazelnuts

Given that average unit prices have surged by 20% on last year to EUR 7.13/kg (USD 7.79/kg) in the first half of 2024 it is quite surprising that EU import volumes have risen for hazelnuts at all. Yet, EU imports range 4% higher than last year at 28,794 mt. However, it should be noted that the import volumes exceeded 30,000 mt in the same period in 2018-2022. In terms of value imports have risen sharply by 25% to EUR 205 million (USD 224 million) as compared with the EUR 164 million (USD 179 million) generated in the first six months of 202
