Hazelnuts: accused of monopoly

ORDU. Exporters have responded to the TMO sales for hazelnuts. Prices are not quite what the market expected and the TMO has been accused of opening the doors to a monopoly. Exports are impressive, despite prices being remarkably high.

TMO stirs consternation

In response to the sales announced by the TMO last week, price developments did not go quite as expected. With further details emerging consternation is being stirred in the market. Atakan Akça, President of the Altınordu Chamber of Commerce has accused the state-run organisation of running a monopoly. Trouble is that even the slightest speculation as to what volumes the TMO will sell creates downward pressure.
