BRUSSELS. Global demand is an issue for wheat. Rain has improved prospects for corn in Argentina. China has refrained from a full-blown trade war affecting soy. Canada’s canola industry takes a breather after US tariffs are postponed.

Demand is an issue for wheat

US wheat exports have climbed by 24% to 14 million mt as compared with last year. China’s response to the increase in US import tariffs has attracted a lot of attention, especially since the country imposed retaliatory tariffs that do not affect agricultural products. As the Trump administration has postponed the tariff hike for Canada and Mexico by one month, quotations have gained some support. Last month, frost gave rise to concerns about possible damages in the USA and the state of the Russian crop is another matter of concern.
